I recently started Nutrisystem with the goal of losing 60 pounds.
To one and all, I'm Kayra! ::waves:: What kind of things would you like to know? I'm single, female, 42 years old and not at all shy about my age. Look, at this point I'm happy to have made it this far!
By day I am a Software Developer, currently working in Java. I have BS in Computer Science and 18 years experience in the field. Languages/Operating Systems include Java, C, C++, FORTRAN 77, Windows and UNIX. If you actually understand any of that then I am really impressed. :)
By night I play on the Internet, dabble in fanfiction (although not nearly as much as I used to) and attempt to sell items on Ebay. It's been said that I am rather obsessed with Lord of the Rings. Really? Not that I've noticed (pushing figures out of the way, cards over the side and let's not mention that combined 30+ times I've seen the three movies). All Hail Peter Jackson! And yes, I read the books many times before I ever saw the movies. hee hee... And let's not forget the second fandom, Star Wars. Yes.. Yes... I actually *liked* Revenge of the Sith. There were issues, but overall I liked it. Thanks to certain people (feys_world, luthienpotter and milady_vilya) I have developed a liking for Harry Potter. Nothing like theirs, but still, I suppose I should list it as a fandom since I can actually discuss with friends now. :)
If you look hard, you might find some fanfic I've written, but be warned, it's not written under this name. There's a story for one zine that's written as KayraA, but that's about it. I fear the muse has left me. :( But if I could just get the muse to come back. It seems as though she teases me sometimes with little bits of stories. Little tastes just out of my reach.
I've been studying Paganism for the past 3 years or so. I say studying because I don't get to "practice" as much as I should. Probably doesn't make me a very good Pagan. That's okay, I wasn't a very good Christian either. Lately I've been trying meditation and find I enjoy it.
I love music, particularly rock, celtic, new age, classical, jazz, yes a rather eclectic selection.
Pretty much anything *except* rap and country. ::shudder:: Music is one of my true passions.
